What Equipment is Tested
The regulations cover all items of in-service electrical equipment, this includes all movable items connected to the mains supply by 3A or 13A BS1363 plugs, BS EN60309-2 industrial plugs. In addition to being responsible for the safety of their own portable appliances, company`s are also responsible for electrical equipment brought on site by employees and contractors.
Please do not be fooled by the saying "we don`t test the leads separately" as this is false economy, the lead Carry's all the power to a computer and if anything is going to fail it will be the IEC lead.It is also a recommendation within the regulations to test all removable leads separately. This could cause a shock or fire at your business.
Some equipment that maybe in your office or workplace that needs to be PAT Tested include, vacuum cleaner, desk fans, 12v adapters, toaster, food mixer, electric fire, air conditioning unit, hair driers, refrigerator, heaters, electric cooker, computers, laptops, scanners, mail machines, fax machines, screens, even extension leads and mobile phone chargers need to be PAT tested. From 2008n the regulations have changed and any item that is connected to a fused spur by a flex or cable is now classed as a portable appliance and requires a visual pat test.
As we now test to the new 2008 regulations we test all fixed wired items connected to the installation by cable or flex. We also now carry out a 250v test on all items that can no longer be tested at 500v.
We carry out testing at Care homes, Doctors Surgery's, Hospitals, Residential homes, Nursery's, Pre-schools and public buildings.
