UK Portable Appliance Testing

What Equipment is Tested

The regulations cover all items of in-service electrical equipment, this includes all movable items connected to the mains supply by 3A or 13A BS1363 plugs, BS EN60309-2 industrial plugs. In addition to being responsible for the safety of their own portable appliances, company`s are also responsible for electrical equipment brought on site by employees and contractors.

Please do not be fooled by the saying "we don`t test the leads seperatly" as this is false economy, the lead carrys all the power to a computer and if anything is going to fail it will be the IEC lead. This could cause a shock or fire at your business.

Some equipment that maybe in your office or workplace that needs to be PAT Tested include, vacuum cleaner, desk fans, 12v adapters, toaster, food mixer, electric fire, air conditioning unit, hair driers, refrigerator, heaters, electric cooker, computers, laptops, scanners, mail machines, fax machines, screens, even extension leads and mobile phone chargers need to be PAT tested.
